Shooting treated as 'murder bid'

Forensic officers are examining the scene
A 28-year-old man was injured after a gunman opened fire on him in Cumbernauld, police said.

Edward Lyons was taken to Monklands Hospital where staff described his condition as "serious but stable".

Officers were called to Ratho Drive by people who reported hearing gunshots at 2155 BST on Tuesday.

Police are treating the incident as attempted murder. Detective Inspector Gordon Wotherspoon appealed for witnesses to contact him.
