[1] Why were public resources like this thrown away?
[2] Will the Administration now issue an apology to the people of Milton and beyond?
[3] Will it now have these facilities rebuilt?
[4] Was the demolition approved by any Committee prior to happening?
[5]Was a list of the buildings circulated around Departments prior to demolition, in case any of them would want to claim the buildings?
If the answer to either of the two previous questions is no:
[6] Why was Council practice flouted in this way?
[7] What will the auditor think of this disregard of standard practice?
The public inquiry decided that the changing rooms must be rebuilt.
[8] How much money will it cost the Council to build these again?
[9] Why didn't the Council wait for the outcome of the inquiry before demolishing the buildings?
The Council was slated at the inquiry for its attitude towards Planning procedures – the administration seemed to believe that the council could somehow get away with granting planning permission to itself for anything it wanted. Everyone else - including Council planning officials - was of the opinion that the Council had no chance whatsoever of winning the inquiry.
[10] Why did the administration persist when it had absolutely no chance of winning?
[11] Why did the administration Councillors not take the advice of Council Planning Officials?
[12] How much money did the inquiry cost?
[13] How much officials time was wasted?
(Note that the inquiry lasted for 5 full days and the Council employed an advocate (Mr Anderson) and solicitor and sent Colin Tytler and other senior planning officials, Ian McDonald, Brian Porteous and others along. These people - especially the lawyers - were all involved in lengthy and expensive pre-hearing preparatory work. Ironically, the opposing side was Sports Scotland, which is also entirely publicly funded, and they had their own set of advocates, solicitors and private practice planning consultants.)
[14] How does the administration justify wasting Tax payers money like
this?
[15] What impact does the inquiry outcome have on the PFI plans for Glasgow Secondary Schools?
[16] Are these plans now viable at all?
[17] How much time and money will be thrown into renegotiating the PFI contracts?
[18] Will the removal of playing fields from the contracts mean the addition of bigger cash subsidies to the PFI contractor, and if so, how much more will this cost?
[19] Why did the administration agree in the first place to contracts which would have given away so many public playing fields to private developers for free?
[20] Who in the administration accepts responsibility for the fiasco?
[21] Who will resign as a result?
[22] Who will be liable for surcharge?
[23] Will the former Leader of the Council, turned Local Government Minister(!), Frank McAveety MSP, assume his full share of responsibility?
